Senior translator job description

I. List of Senior translator duties:

  1. Translate a wide variety of texts (promotional material, product information, professional/ corporate communications, sales presentations, training materials, etc.) pertaining to the following categories: general healthcare and wellness, beauty and skincare, and medical devices and diagnostic solutions.
  2. Review translations done by other translators and freelancers.
  3. Assume responsibility for proofreading and approving French material for printing and publishing.
  4. Manage projects and priorities, negotiate deadlines, build and maintain ongoing relationships with internal customers and external partners.
  5. Support internal customers by providing expert advice, and serve as go-to person for all questions related to translation projects (administrative and linguistic).
  6. Contribute to creating and enriching an in-house terminology database.
  7. Contribute to developing and coaching other translators in a less senior role.

II. List of Senior translator qualifications

  1. Bachelor or Masters Degree in translation is a must. Life sciences degree an asset.
  2. Minimum of 8-10 years progressive corporate experience in translation, preferably in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
  3. Results and performance driven.
  4. High degree of initiative and ability to work independently under minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  6. Sense of urgency: ability to juggle priorities, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  7. Big picture orientation with superior attention to accuracy and detail.
  8. Strong commitment to working in a team environment and demonstrated sense of valuing collaboration.
  9. Fast learner and ability to quickly familiarize with and adopt new tools.
