Financial translator job description

I. List of Financial translator duties:


  1. Translate short and long equity research reports on a daily basis.
  2. Meet deadlines and function professionally under deadline pressure.
  3. Terminology research, including extraction of terminology from texts and use of term base.
  4. Project coordination and participation in projects other than translation as required.
  5. Authoring/editing/proofreading of English texts, including texts written by non-native speakers.
  6. Participation in maintenance/expansion of departmental standards documentation and style guides, etc.
  7. General operational and administrative duties as required.

II. List of Financial translator qualifications

  1. MA in translation, postgraduate translation diploma and/or additional subject area qualification an advantage.
  2. More than 1 years work experience as a full-time In-house translator employee.
  3. Knowledge of basic accounting terms and calculations; familiarity with a broad range of securities, business and industry terminology; an understanding of equity valuation and economic concepts
  4. Relevant financial qualifications advantageous.
  5. Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an equity research/financial/business translator (translation skills must be demonstrated through a standard test.)
  6. Prior in-house experience at investment bank a plus.
  7. Proficiency in use of Microsoft desktop software--Word
  8. Proven time-management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and juggle several projects at the same time and to work under tight deadline pressure.
